「あなたは、メッセンジャーの世界大会が過去に東京で行われていたことを知っているだろうか。」

2009年、東京・お台場。
自転車で街を駆け抜けてデリバリーするメッセンジャーたちが世界中から集まり、彼らのスキルを競い合う年に一度のお祭り、「Cycle Messenger World Championships(CMWC)」が開かれた。

初めて日本を訪れた海外のメッセンジャーたち、日頃の脚力自慢を披露しようと虎視眈々と上位を狙う全国各都市のメッセンジャーたち、そして何年も掛けて開催まで準備を重ねてきた運営サイドのメッセンジャーたち。彼らの想いは共通している。
「日頃の労をねぎらい合い、最高の時間を共にしたい」

作品中の、あるベテランメッセンジャーは言う。
「それがメッセンジャーコミュニティのすべてだ。」
同じメッセンジャーというだけで、国境を越えて連帯意識を共有し、仲間として時間を過ごせる。そんな職業、他にあるだろうか。

そして、その精神は今も引き継がれ、2023年、CMWC横浜大会が開催されることが決まった。

長年お蔵入りしていた2009年CMWC東京の映像が、ドキュメンタリーとして再編集され、10年の時を経て、今ようやく公開を迎える。

"Did you know that the Messenger World Championships were held in Tokyo in the past?"

The Cycle Messenger World Championships (CMWC), an annual festival where messengers from all over the world gathered to compete in their skills as they rode their bicycles through the streets and made deliveries.
The event was attended by messengers from overseas who were visiting Japan for the first time, messengers from cities all over Japan who were eager to show off their daily leg strength, and messengers from the organizers who had spent years preparing for the event. They all have one thing in common: they want to show off their daily efforts.
We want to reward each other for our daily efforts and share the best time together.
As one veteran messenger in the film says, "That's what the messenger community is all about."
Just because we are messengers, we share a sense of solidarity and spend time together as friends across borders. Is there any other profession like it?
And that spirit has been carried on to this day, with the CMWC Yokohama to be held in 2023.
The footage of the 2009 CMWC Tokyo, which had been kept in storage for many years, has been re-edited as a documentary, and now, 10 years later, it is finally being released to the public.
